Fashion: Class to Tycoon

Through the years, Fashion portrayed many things such as status and symbolism that allows you to tell of a person class by what they wore, however, nowadays to determine someone social statues by what they are wearing could be very different as fashion has shifted its meaning. Many ladies in the past were all about etiquette and portraying themselves as a lady with class and status. They wore many headpieces with the most gorgeous Chanel necklaces to Cartier bracelets. Fashions and trends in Britain during the Victorian era was a huge thing. Covering nearly two thirds of Queen Victoria ruling the 19th century, the 63 year reign would see numerous changes in fashion. By 1907, most clothing was being made in factory and often sold in large quantities with fixed prices in department stores much like what we call mass market this day, Haute couture, the making of clothes for a specific customer or just sewing a dress for yourself was still significant but on the decline. New machinery and materials changed clothing in many ways. Clothing is still able to state a person’s social status in our time however as time changes, fashion has become something of a symbolism and status became something to express a person’s sexuality.

Sexuality can refer to a person’s sexual orientation or simply just a person’s sexual desires. Similarly, although the people living through the Victorian era dress to match their social status, in France, women wore something called “Décolletage”. Décolletage is a low-cut neckline ball gowns, evening gowns and other low-cut neckline clothing that reveals or emphasis on the cleavage of the woman. Women these days can also dress themselves in way guys find them appealing and this leads to sexual desires. A dress that fixes perfectly on the lady with her curves really round and her bust showing out lightly can lead a man to feel intrigued.  Fashion has evolved so much through the years that now, gay men and women uses fashion as a statement to liberate themselves and they know that they are open and doesn’t care about what other people think of them and that what they wear shouts “This is me and this is who I am, love it or hate it, it doesn’t bother me.” A guy can wear a pair of Christian Louboutin’s stilettos and still rock it and they loved it and it is who they are. People used fashion as a way to express themselves and a way to create new forms of art. Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen designs are divine and it’s really bold and enticing. Fashion also allows you to tell a lot about a person, their matching color combination and the way they simply dress themselves. McQueen’s stingray inspired dress can tell that he is creative and he expressed the emotion through colors and designs. You can also tell that a person is sloppy and does not care about her looks if she doesn’t groom herself and dress decently. Being fashionable is not simply just paying for designer clothes such as Louis Vuitton but you can buy cheap clothes with good quality and match them beautifully, even dresses from Kmart can make the most divine dress if you could match it properly. I’m not trying to say that rich people have to dress fabulously, some famous and rich people think just because they are wearing a designer shoe or dress means they are fabulous. THAT IS WRONG.

They can buy all the expensive dresses and burn their money for all they want but if they do not know how to dress properly according to the dress code and color combination, they will still look like crap even though the clothing is designer made.
